PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: These Civil War Union Breast Plate & Cartridge Box Plate are both in nice condition showing some age. Both have been modified a long time ago. I believe they were modified with a pin so they could've been worn to reunions or G.A.R. Halls after the War by the original veteran. The Cartridge box plate still retains one original fastening loop but it was cut and opened up so the pin could be locked under it. It also has the letters M V M scratched into the lead back. The Breast plate loops have been cut off completely but remnants can still be seen upon close inspection.
